Repairing Your Jeep Wrangler Interior

Jeep Wrangler Interior

Jeep Wrangler Interior is a mix of modern comfort and old-school toughness. It offers plenty of storage space for your gear, and you can take the roof and doors off for that wind-in-your-hair feeling.

The cabin has all the modern amenities you’d expect, like air conditioning, cloth upholstery, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. It also has a driver’s seat with six-way height adjustment and two-way manual lumbar support.

With its classic rounded silhouette, the Wrangler doesn’t try to hide its rough-and-ready personality. Even inside the cabin, you’ll feel like you’re on a trail ride in the middle of nowhere, thanks to slender pillars that limit blind spots and a cockpit that’s a surprisingly intuitive place to spend time behind the wheel.

Drivers and front-seat passengers sit close to the upright windshield, with a slim dashboard punctuated by round air vents, chunky switchgear for climate control and infotainment systems, and useful range of adjustments at the seat and steering wheel.

While this cabin doesn’t offer the same level of comfort as premium SUVs from rival automakers, it’s still livable for long trips. Front seats are well-shaped and supportive, and available power lumbar support helps keep you comfortable on long journeys.

The back row is more spacious, with enough legroom for kids and shorter adults to stretch out. If you want more room, the rear seats fold flat to expand cargo capacity to 72.4 cubic feet. Keeping all your gear secure is simple in the back, thanks to a tailgate that includes an available Trail Rail System. There’s also a removable cargo floor, so it’s easy to wash away leftover dirt and debris.

If you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the driver’s seat, you’ll appreciate the Jeep Wrangler’s standard 8.4-inch infotainment screen. The responsive system provides access to your favorite apps, sat-nav, and more. The Jeep Wrangler’s dashboard also features a 7.0-inch TFT screen in the instrument cluster that shows key driving information.

Whether you’re an off-roading rock crawler or just a casual around-town driver, you can make your Wrangler more comfortable by adding custom seat covers. At CJ’s, we carry top brands like Bestop, Corbeau, and Smittybilt. They come in a variety of colors and designs, so you can find something that suits your style. Plus, they’re easier to clean and won’t absorb dirt and dust as easily as cloth seats.

Floor Mats

The ruggedness of your Jeep Wrangler makes it a great choice for off-roading or camping, but that ruggedness can also mean your car’s interior is exposed to more wear and tear than usual. A good way to help protect your Jeep Wrangler interior is with a set of rugged floor mats. These will keep water, mud, and dirt from soaking into the carpeting and damaging it over time. Plus, they’re easy to clean so you don’t have to spend all day cleaning up after a long trail ride or camping trip.

A great option is the Rough Country floor mats, which are contoured for a precise fit that grips the carpeting and stays put. These floor mats are made from a tough, durable material that’s resistant to heat, chemicals, and UV damage, so they won’t crack or fade. They also have an aggressive-looking textured surface that gives your shoes plenty of traction. Plus, they’re easy to clean—just pull them out and hose them down!

Another great option is the Mopar front and rear floor mats. These have a spider man-esque pattern of deep ribs that trap dirt, mud, and liquids to prevent spills from spreading. These mats are also made from rubber, so they’re thicker and more durable than thermoplastic elastomer options.

For those who want to customize their Jeep Wrangler’s interior, we have a few different floor mat colors and styles to choose from. The 2024 Jeep Wrangler includes a new radiant teal shade called Bikini, which joins the existing Anvil, Black, Crush Orange, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Silver Zynith, Sarge, and Hydro Blue. There are also several seating materials and color options for Jeep drivers near Findlay, OH, including standard black or Heritage tan cloth low-back bucket seats in Sport and Willys and optional premium leather-trimmed bucket seats in Rubicon.

For more customization, you can add an officially licensed Jeep logo to the front and rear floor mats of your Jeep YJ, TJ, or JK. This adds a little extra flair to your interior while protecting your Jeep’s carpeting from spills and stains.

Carpeting

As a result of all the dirt, water and salt dragged in by your tires over time, the carpeting in your Jeep Wrangler can take a beating. Luckily, it’s fairly easy to replace the carpeting and make your ride more comfortable. Jeep’s all-inclusive floor carpet kits contain replacement carpet parts for the front and rear seats, cargo area and wheel well flooring. The parts are cut-to-fit for a perfect fit and an easy installation. They’re also made of a durable, heavy-duty material that’s been tested for ozone humidity fading and light fastness.

These floor kits are usually designed to complement the vehicle’s interior color, and many come with a set of hook-and-loop floor mats. Some are available in a variety of different colors, which allows you to choose one that really pops. You can also find a kit that features special anti-slip technology to keep the mats from shifting around. If you’re planning to use your Jeep in off-road conditions, you can even opt for a kit with waterproofing and sound deadening.

You can also buy Jeep Wrangler molded rubber and vinyl floor mats, which are easy to install and provide extra protection against moisture, cold and heat, and debris. However, these add-ons aren’t compatible with all models. For example, the hose-it-out flooring that Ford offered with its Bronco line isn’t available on any two-door Jeep Wrangler.

Another way to improve the comfort of your Jeep’s cabin is to install a bed or floor liner. You can opt for a plastic or molded rubber liner, or you can go with the BedRug BRCYJ76F (view on Amazon). This product is a liner that looks like carpet but protects your truck’s interior from dirt, spills and other elements. It’s made of a durable polypropylene and it’s waterproof, which helps reduce noise and heat inside the cabin. Moreover, it’s easy to install and remove. The liner can be trimmed to suit your specific car model, and it’s also resistant to molds, mildew, stains, and smells. This liner is also very easy to clean. So, what are you waiting for?

Steering Wheel

The steering wheel is the central hub of your vehicle’s driving experience. It sends messages and commands to the vehicle’s pinion and rack gears, which in turn guide the front wheels and brakes. A damaged steering wheel can make it hard to drive your Jeep Wrangler. The first step in repairing a steering wheel is to assess the damage. If the damage is minor, you may be able to repair it yourself. If the damage is severe, you may need to replace the entire steering wheel.

Depending on your trim level, you’ll find the Jeep Wrangler has a variety of options for customizing your interior. The base Sport model makes do with a plain urethane steering wheel, 17-inch steel wheels and manual operation for most of its accessories. However, moving up to higher trim levels means gaining access to more power accessories, keyless entry, leather seats, air conditioning, automatic headlights and a host of other features.

Steering wheel buttons make it easy to change radio stations, toggle between audio modes and adjust the volume without taking your eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. At first, it takes some practice to remember which button moves the radio preset and which turns up the tunes. Eventually, your thumbs will instinctively know where the controls are. In addition to making life on the road easier, steering wheel controls also improve safety by keeping you focused on the task at hand. Drivers who have to stop and fumble for their phone or radio are less likely to react to split-second driving situations that lead to accidents.

The YJ’s arrival in 1987 introduced the Wrangler to its first major interior upgrade. The full-length dash-top plastic pad still paid homage to the CJs that came before it, but a speedometer and tach now flanked the steering wheel and nearly a half-dozen other gauges lined up on the center stack. This was a big leap away from the utilitarian, hose-it-out look that characterized earlier Jeep models.
